Overview

The incumbent reports to the Chief of Office and is responsible for acting as focal point for all IS related matters. More precisely, the incumbent is responsible for executing the following tasks:

General Responsibilities

  • Maintaining the systems configurations according to NSPA defined IS standards.

  • Supporting distributed computing resources in accordance with NSPA defined guidelines and procedures.

  • Maintaining an inventory of the local system configurations.

  • Maintaining a problem management tracking system and determining when equipment needs servicing/troubleshooting.

  • Executing initial troubleshooting on all hardware/software installed in the organisational element.

  • Installing new hardware and software in accordance with NSPA defined standards and procedures.

  • Arranging receipt of new IS material and return of old IS material from/to designated storage locations.

  • Performing cabling and rewiring, connecting and re-connecting for new or relocated hardware.

  • Assisting the end-user in the development of suitable IS solutions and coordinating the implementation process.

  • Customizing, documenting and controlling end-user applications and other software as required.

  • Collecting and coordinating requirements for the distributed IS planning and for the NSPA Information Systems Master Plan (NISMP).

  • Evaluating, in coordination with Infrastructure and Service Delivery Division (IS) and possibly with the Infrastructure, Facilities and Support Services Division (AF), new hardware and software products and making recommendations concerning their usage.

  • Creating/maintaining security, recovery and contingency plans for the protection of end-users' assets.

  • Revising facility security requirements and coordinating them with the AF Division.

  • Maintaining an inventory of locally installed equipment and ensuring its physical security.

  • Enabling access to system resources in accordance with the user profile for new users and disabling access at the users' departure or transfer.

  • Notifying IS Division, helpdesk and network team, about all modifications to the physical network configuration, in particular for material which has been permanently removed from the network.

  • Assuring the formatting of hard disks before material is being disposed or re-distributed.

  • Preparing job-related correspondence.

  • Preparing presentations and giving briefings as required.

  • Executing other related tasks as required in peacetime and any other appropriate tasks assigned in times of crisis or war.

  • In the event of crisis or war the incumbent will, subject to the agreement of their national authorities, remain in the service of the Agency.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Interacting with end-users and providing internal guidance for an efficient use of the equipment.

  • Planning, preparing and giving end-user training and follow-on courses to all Programme Office personnel

    concerned.

QUALIFICATIONS

General Qualifications

  •   Complete secondary education, equivalent education, or relevant professional experience.
  •   Experience in IS related administrative tasks normally acquired as a Senior Clerk after three to five years in
  • the Agency or in a similar organisation.
  •   Formal training and experience in IS with particular emphasis on end-user and workstation applications, problem solving, troubleshooting and direct end-user support.

Specific Qualifications

  • Experience in giving guidance and assistance to end-users of IS systems. LANGUAGE QUALIFICATIONS
  • NATO's official languages are English and French. The work of this post requires fluency in English, while working knowledge of French is desirable.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Very good knowledge of and experience in SharePoint.
